Dogon carved stool, 10-12"
$80.00 A-WC010 Dogon Stool. This stool originated from the famous cliff regions of Mali, West Africa where Dogon tribesmen fought off Muslim invaders about 1000 years ago. This hardy people have maintained their traditional heritage to a greater degree than most modern Africans. Useful, but primarily a fabulous conversation piece. The seat of the stool is supported by carved figures of women holding their hands in the air. If rain or other blessings from the unseen world are needed, the woman of the village will go into the bush and hold their hands in the air for long periods of time.
